Franklin: We are building momentum
Star forward Lance Franklin believes his side is building good momentum heading towards the midway point of the season.
The Swans have now won five games in a row heading into Saturday night’s clash against North Melbourne before the mid-season break.
Franklin said he was pleased with the way his side had started the season
“I think that is the key for most seasons, to try and get that momentum,” Franklin said.
“That is five on the trot now so if we can win next week against North Melbourne and get that momentum up heading into the split round we can rest out bodies.
“That second half of the season is really important that we can keep winning and see what happens come the finals.”
Franklin booted three goals in Saturday afternoon’s 52-point win over Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium.
Despite entering the game as the bottom placed side the Suns put in a strong contest against the Swans, particularly after half time.
“It was a tough game tonight, they played some really good football,” he said.
“We played some pretty good football in the first half and then in the second half we dropped off a little bit and they were able to get back into the game which was a little disappointing.”
“We come away with the win and head back to Sydney, train hard and then get ready for North Melbourne next Saturday night.”
Franklin has now kicked 30 goals for the season putting him in third position for the race for the Coleman Medal.
